Interested in mentorship with a flexible on call schedule? Perhaps it’s every third weekend on call and a few nights a month (or you can take more as compensation is paid for all calls seen outside of regular business hours). Low after hours call volume exists (average 3 to 5 calls per week) in mixed animal practice (65 % SA and 35% LA).

Our amazing, newly built facility accommodates in house DR xray (portable unit for all animals), DR dental xray and full dental cart, In house lab for CBC, CHEM and more (fructosamine, phenobarb etc). The majority of LA obstetrical cases are handled in clinic. Potential to earn more than $85 000 per annum with paid licensing fees, continuing education allowance, group insurance plan (health, life and disability), staff discounts and more! Planning to retire on day? We also have a matched RRSP contribution into the Saskatchewan Pension Plan. We offer a signing bonus of $10 000 and can assist with some moving expenses.

Do you have superior communication skills and believe in providing exceptional veterinary care through relationship-centred approach? Are you an energetic, reliable, and supportive team player? Do you desire to be part of the Fear-Free movement? If you answered “Yes” to these questions, then we may have found our perfect match!

Erindale Animal Hospital is accepting applications for an outgoing veterinary office assistant/office administrator to join our busy and progressive small animal practice; providing the highest standard of health care to dogs, cats, and exotics in a beautiful, newly-renovated practice designed on fear free principles.

The successful candidate should possess these key attributes: quick thinker, friendly, highly organized, able to prioritize tasks, superior communication skills (both written and verbal), computer savvy, and technologically inclined. We are looking for someone who takes initiative and has a “can-do” attitude. The candidate must act as an ambassador to our hospital brand and be a multi-tasker in service to clients and coworkers.

You are the face of the practice! As such, customer service is your priority. You must always be welcoming with a smile on your face and in your voice. You must strive to possess a team approach in order to foster smooth operation of the clinic.

Roles and responsibilities: answer phones, schedule medical appointments and surgeries, communicate with clients, accurately complete and maintain confidential electronic patient files and reports, order supplies, track inventory, invoice and process payments, employee scheduling, audit of procedures and protocols with suggestions for greater service, efficacy and cost savings, some cleaning and assisting with animals may be required.

Experience in a veterinary hospital or as an office administrator is desirable, including proficiency in veterinary practice management software, MS Office Suite, POS systems and cash flow management.

This position provides for growth opportunities in two areas: an opportunity to include working side by side with a veterinarian as an exam room assistant once knowledge of basic animal care/vaccinations/parasite control has been demonstrated; or an opportunity to develop and maintain office administrative/organizational management skills.

We offer health and dental package to full-time employees, continuing education, uniform allowance and subsidized pet care. You will earn a competitive wage (commensurate with experience) with periodic increases based on the successful execution and growth of roles and responsibilities.

What does this mean for you? You will get to take part in phase training designed by you and your peers, and you will get to pick your mentors. You will get to become a part of a supportive and welcoming atmosphere in a collaborative workplace. You will receive animal handling and fear free training and experience, which will make a difference in pets’ lives and the lives of those who love them in order to achieve the best healthcare. Every day, you will be a champion of the fear free movement and see the difference it makes for happy pets, wagging tails and positive rewards.
Please submit a resume with 3 references that we may contact to eah@sasktel.net. Only suitable applicants will be sent a formal application form. Thank you for your interest in EAH.

Hello everyone! We are currently undertaking new research at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, investigating a new protein associated with obesity and diabetes in cats, ‘nesfatin-1’. Nesfatin-1 provides promise as a marker to assess and monitor insulin resistance and overall improve diabetic management in cats.

We are currently recruiting newly diagnosed diabetic cats for part of our study. Ideally, we would recruit cats that have not started treatment, however if they have been receiving treatment for less than a month then we may be able to recruit them as well. Diabetic cats will receive complimentary diabetic food, blood work, and monitoring. Our study will cover approximately the first 6 weeks of treatment, at which point they would return to their DVM for continued management.

Please see the attached client handout for additional information about ‘nesfatin-1’ and what clients will receive in return for their participation in our study. If any of your clients (or even if you yourself!) have a cat that fits these descriptions, and wish to take part in our study, then please direct them to contact us at the phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses provided in the handout.
